The Whatuni Student Choice Awards for 2023 have been announced. These are the largest annual UK university awards voted on exclusively by students, with rankings for all the different aspects of student life determined from 35000 student reviews across the country.
These include rankings for Students’ Unions, and unfortunately EHSU has dropped from 15th to 37th place, despite maintaining a similar score (only dropping 0.04 points, from 3.97 to 3.93 out of five). All of the scores are incredibly close, so changes in ranking are to be expected year-to-year.
Over the last year, we’ve overhauled our structure, hiring dedicated coordinators for Societies, Representation, and Student Opportunities, who are all working hard to ensure that your student-led activities get the focus they deserve.
Work is beginning very soon on our new building, due to be completed by September 2024, which will give us a bigger and more specialised space to deliver events to you, as well as making our team more accessible.
While construction is underway, we’re taking over the Red Bar as your place to meet up and relax on campus, alongside hosting our classic Socials. This is an exciting opportunity for us to collaborate with the Arts Centre on new types of events, expanding what we can offer to you.
While the Whatuni results are disappointing at first glance, we want to reassure you that we have been working hard towards improving every aspect of your student experience, and many exciting things to come. If you have any thoughts or feedback to give us, don’t hesitate to respond to our survey. Student voice is at the core of what we do. We are here to listen to you, campaign for you, give you advice and bring about change at the University.
